The
England
First Party With
the collapse of other splinter groups which tried to cause trouble for the
British National Party – some of them overtly Searchlight
instigated, others just run by cranks -- Searchlight was, for a
while, at its wit’s end for a more effective way of trying to halt the
inexorable rise of the British National Party as a credible, democratic
alternative to the Tory and Labour parties. After
thrashing around in the muddy waters of the far right, mostly through the
work of one of its longest standing (but, ironically, most exposed) agents,
Peter Rushton, the masters at Searchlight have finally found their team of
“willing fools” in the form of the peculiar "England First Party” or
EFP. Today,
the EFP tries desperately to pass itself off to newcomers as a reasonable,
non-racist, pro-English party, in an attempt to become a wannabe-Scottish
National Party type operation. To
do this, the EFP has set itself the goal of opposing the British National
Party – one of Gable’s chief purposes in life, and where his and the EFP
strategy tie in very nicely together. The origins and personalities behind the EFP make, therefore, interesting reading.
